ABOUT US Cedar Log of Montana is a custom log home design and construction company located in Montana that is family owned and operated by the Richards family (Jim, Jana, Jake and Jordan). We work throughout the Northwest to design and build custom log homes from the finest woods on Earth, especially Western Red Cedar. We have years of experience designing and building custom log homes in a range of locations and conditions. We are skilled in custom home design, custom interior design, construction processes, and we are knowledgeable of alternative home construction materials. HOUSE AND BUILDING DESIGNS Our plan book provides several standard plans. Most of our homes are built from custom plans or modifications to our standard designs. We will work closely with you to create your custom home. We custom design homes for customers by working in person, by mail by fax and by e-mail. If you prefer, send us your favorite plans. We assume that all plans are copyrighted, however, this is not a problem because our unique building systems require basic design modifications. When these are incorporated with custom changes, they create a truly custom design. We encourage our customers to incorporate their own design ideas. ENGINEERING Our standard plans are engineered to meet normal building code design criteria, snow load, wind load, seismic load, and lateral loads, column/beam spacing, and span capabilities. Still, it is not possible to predict the building code requirements of every county in the country and you should check with your local building code officals to make sure that your design will meet local building codes. INTERIOR DESIGN We also offer interior design services. Our knowledge of materials and their availability allow us to offer unique products that include interior doors, custom tiles, hardware, counter tops, flooring,custom railing systems and lighting to name a few examples. We can also offer advice on decorating the interior of your new home with such items as furniture, window treatments, and original artwork. Like our cedar logs, the possibilities are endless.  All of our standard designs can be customized at no extra charge, or you can start the process with your own ideas. Whether you begin with our plan book or bring to us your own custom design or drawings, our goal is to help you design the log home of your dreams.
